word play of the day #7

Noby – n. 1 Whenever you are at a club or walking down the street and you see a bald guy wearing dark-rimmed glasses, there is always a split second where you think that this man is Moby.  At this point, he is known as a “Mayby”.  Upon closer inspection, you realize that this man is not Moby, and at this point becomes a Noby.  On rare occasions, the “Mayby” actually maybe is Moby, at which point you should say what’s up to him, because I am sure he is nice and down to chat. This is also known as a “Yesby”.  If you know Moby, you are known as a “Knowby”.  An asshole who sort of looks like Moby can and should be referred to as a “Moby Dick”.

EAF! Amazing! I think I see Moby about once a day and I go through all the degrees you’ve listed from Mayby to Noby. Thank you for identifying and publicizing this experience.

On a desolate day this past summer, my friends and I hiked up to the lookout point at Fort Tilden, and out of the shrubs emerged a gratuitous Noby. He muttered something about us being female and fled.
